Drugs & alcohol policy

REM MARITIME A.S employees and subcontractors shall not report to work or perform any work, duties or services whilst under the influence of alcohol, any drugs or narcotics. It is forbidden to distribute, purchase, sell or consume alcohol, drugs or narcotics on board the companies’ vessels. A positive test result will be a disciplinary offence.
 
This policy applies to all employees in REM MARITIME A.S, working on board their vessel or in the management and to third party personnel and subcontractors engaged in work for REM MARITIME A.S.
 
 
  • It is strictly forbidden to consume or have in  possession  alcohol, drugs or narcotics.
  • The Captain and Chief Executive Officer is responsible to enforce this policy.
  • The Captain and Chief Executive Officer have authority to suspend and remove from the vessel and if necessary sign off any person found to be violating this policy.
  • This policy does not apply to prescription drugs when they are used for their intended purposes as currently prescribed for the person using them, provided that the use of such drugs does not adversely affect the persons ability to perform his duty in a safe and productive manner.
  • The company reserves the right to conduct searches on board the vessels, and of personal belongings, prior to joining or departing the vessel, without prior announcement.
  • The company reserves the right to conduct searches or tests of employees, third party personnel and subcontractors engaged in work for REM MARITIME but not limited to, the following circumstances: 
    -pre-employment
    -compliance with law or regulation
    -after an accident
    -after a rehabilitation program
    -random unannounced testing
  • The searches or tests may include the taking of breath or urine samples for testing to determine the presence of drugs, narcotics or alcohol
  • If a person refuses to submit to a search or test or is found to be violating this policy he/she shall be subject to applicable, lawful disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
