REM Maritime AS is a shipping company who mainly does our business in the offshore sector. The goal is to reduce the impact we as a company have on the environment. This means to conduct our business in a manner that assures optimum protection of the environment, in addition to careful compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Efficient use of natural recourses and waste reduction are keys to achieving these objectives.
The Company’s environmental plan provides a structured plan for an effective environmental management. The plan describes the directions the Company will take towards realization of the long-term vision on the environmental concern. The Designated Person is the custodian and shall be responsible for annual reviewing and updating of the document with respective line input as identified in the plan.
The HSEQ policy statement gives a clear policy on the environment as follows:
- Prevent damage to the environment
The environmental plan identifies projects needed to translate the Policy into practical actions. Consistent with the Company’s drive for line responsibility for HSEQ issues, the responsibility for each project is assigned to and appropriate department. These departmental responsibilities are further cascaded and translated into individual employee’s tasks and targets.
The Policy commits the company to:
- Assure needed training to all employees
- Improve our technology
- Enlist the cooperation of our suppliers and customers
- Enlist the cooperation of neighbouring communities
